Village Inn is a tough place for diabetics, and you must be extra cautious while ordering food at the Village Inn, especially if you're a diabetic. The food items low in sodium are high in sugar or cholesterol at Village Inn which makes it difficult for diabetics to choose the right food at the diner.
Foods to Avoid at Village Inn for Diabetics
Village Inn offers very few items edible for diabetics without any threat. You can avoid sandwiches and burgers at Village Inn and try the light breakfast items on the menu. You must also skip the shakes as well as other juices from the beverage menu. Almost all the dinner items on the menu are high in sodium except Grilled Tilapia and 6 oz. Top Sirloin & Toast. Avoid Soup bowls and opt for cups instead at Village Inn.
Food Suggestions for Diabetics at Village Inn
2 Egg Low-Cholesterol Egg Substitute Omelette with Part-Skim Mozzarella
If you are concerned about high blood pressure, then you must try food items from the kid's menu at Village Inn as most food items on their regular menu are high in sodium. However, you can always bet on salads for rescue. Instead of dining alone, you can visit the Village Inn in groups to keep the sodium intake in check.
Foods to Avoid at Village Inn for High Blood Pressure
Avoid Sausage Links & Eggs, Sausage Patties & Eggs, Biscuit & Gravy with Eggs, 6 oz. Top Sirloin Eggs, Ham Steak & Eggs, Egg Benedict, and Country Benedict from Village Inn's breakfast menu. It is also recommended to skip the Skillet options at Village Inn for its high sodium content. Among the omelets, avoid Denver Omelette, Country Music Star Omelette, and French Spinach & Bacon Omelette. You must also skip Sandwiches and All-World Double Cheeseburger every time you visit Village Inn.
Food Suggestions for High Blood Pressure at Village Inn
Most items served at Village are made up of eggs, bacon, chicken, or steak. Hence, these food items are often high in cholesterol. You can try the salad items, juices, or light breakfast items from the menu to keep the cholesterol in check. You can also try food from the kid's menu to ensure that you consume fewer calories than usual.
Foods to Avoid at Village Inn for High Cholesterol
You must skip burgers and sandwiches at the Village Inn as these items are very high in cholesterol. You should also avoid the Garden Salads menu at Village Inn except for Southwest Salad, lunch size. You can order all the soups, but you must avoid Tomato Basil Bowl and Wisconsin Cheese Bowl. Almost everything on the dinner menu is also high in cholesterol and must be avoided. Also, skip shakes at Village Inn.
Food Suggestions to Maintain Cholesterol Level at Village Inn
I like village inn. It's usually pretty good when you're looking for diner food for breakfast or lunch. This morning I took my 10 month old to breakfast at the horizon location and noted a few things. It wasn't as clean or updated as others that I've been too or even the other VI in junction and the doors needed repair. The service was fairly friendly but the food was horrible. I ordered my son scrambled eggs, wheat toast and fresh fruit. The eggs were cooked in so much butter that they were crispy on the outside. Gross. The toast has so much butter it was soggy and dripping on to the plate. Double gross. He couldn't eat the fruit because it wasn't ripe enough. Now, I ordered myself a fruit and chicken salad. Sounds yum right? Mmmm not so much. I had to send it back because the chicken had obviously been sitting for a few days and was warmed up. It was so hard I couldn't get a fork through it. So this salad had cantaloupe, strawberries, honeydew, and watermelon. When I got my new salad I think the cooks thought it would be cute to give me pieces riddled with seeds which consequently were all through my salad as well. Awesome. Save yourself the trouble and just find some other place to go or visit the other VI location on North and get way better service and your fill of yummy breakfast food.

I ordered the Cuban Sandwich Pita...blah, I should have known better. This is Village Inn, who really yelps "VI" (need to somehow make it 'cool') anyway??? I should have ordered safe, like an omelette or burger, but I went out on a limb. You can go ANYWHERE in the United States and possibly get the exact same thing. That is what makes VI still semi-successful. I was curious about VI and did a quick bit of research. VI was founded by Colorado natives James Mola and Merton Anderson in 1958, so that's cool! The chain has gone through numerous owners and partners have of VI filed bankruptcy, name changes and investors to stay open. My first thought of VI being in every state was false, VI is in Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Mexico, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin and Wyoming. Hmmm, why not Hawaii or Alabama.... But, what you travelers need to know while stopping in Grand Junction, there are other BETTER breakfast options along I-70 that I would point you to (in order of my personal favorites for food and local atmosphere): 1. Cinnamon Grill - 624 Rae Lynn Street, Grand Junction, CO 2. Starvin' Arvin - 3247 F Road, Clifton, CO 3. Pufferbelly Station - 337 South 1st Street, Grand Junction, CO 4. The Southside Diner - 3210 I-70 Business Loop, Clifton, CO 5. Dream Cafe - 314 Main Street, Grand Junction, CO

I'd rather eat at McDonald's. I'd rather eat at my old high school cafeteria. I'd rather just not eat at all. The cheese on my cousin's grilled cheese wasn't even melted. And when I was forced to go back a second time this week, despite my many protests, my grandpa ordered a grilled cheese and that was undercooked too. My sister's eggs were practically raw on the plate and the waitress told her "That's how we do it here" and only took it back after my sister insisted she wouldn't eat it the way it was. The fries tasted like the oil they were cooked in, which, I'm willing to bet my plane ticket home, hadn't been changed in weeks. My food was cold and had a seriously off taste to it. They also messed up my order... I asked for a biscuit with honey and they gave me a biscuit covered with gravy and when I told the waitress, she said "Well, don't you like gravy?" Seriously, lady?? That is not what I ordered. Do your freakin' job and take back the order you screwed up!! They were BEYOND slow, even though the place was empty and it took forever to get my water refilled. How do you screw up breakfast this horrifically, guys?!?! I've been able to make eggs since I was like 9!! Is it really that difficult?

North of I-70 this is your better option over Denny's. Better service and cleaner opetation. If you like pies this is your place.

Basically this place is a classier version of Denny's. The food is better, the atmosphere is better, and the range of choices far outpaces its 24-hour counterpart. I ate here almost a year ago today, and came back without hesitation.

I'd say this is a step below Denny's. I had the club sandwich for dinner and the grilled chicken sandwich for lunch. They were both ok. Keep in mind you get what you pay for.

I love this spot. For me, it was all about the friendly staff. Kevin, the host, immediately was welcoming and Natalie offered great service with a smile. I was immediately won over. But their b'fast menu has great options. The VIB? I think that's what it's called. It offers you several choices to mix and match your b'fast and it's very inexpensive. And the food was good quality. I loved their hash browns. If I'm ever back in the area, I'll definitely stop by.

We both ordered salads. The fruit and chicken salad was ok, but very little chicken. The southwest salad didn't look anything like the picture, had no tomatoes and only a tiny bit of chicken. The iced tea was just colored water. And all that cost $25! We won't be back.

Sunday morning & very crowded but we had a table quickly. Service was efficient and pleasant. Servings more than ample and easy to substitute fruit or tomatoes for pancakes. Food was not gourmet but what do you expect from egg white omlets and poached eggs. Corned beef hash was vintage Dinty Moore, but better than greasy. Good, reliable and clean.

Had a great late-night meal. The Reuben was one of the best I've ever had. I am not a big fan of most restaurant French fries, but these were great. And the peach pie was excellent. My waiter looked like Chumlee, but he was a lot smarter, and a great waiter. Too bad I'm just passing through and don't live close to one of these places. I would eat here often if I did.

Friendly service. Clean restaurant. The food wasn't as good as I thought it would granted that this place has 4 and a half stars. I had the veggie omelet and there wasn't much veggies in it. I would visit this place again just because the people are nice.

Don't eat here, absolutely skip it. We had a very bad experience at this location which lead me to call corporate who STILL has not responded to me. Basically we waited for over an hour for our food at 10pm on a Sunday evening when the place was empty. Employees and management seemed more concerned with shooting the breeze in the kitchen than actually serving customers. When our food finally did come, the reuben which I ordered looked like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for 45 minutes except it was ice cold. There wasn't a spoon full of sauerkraut on it and hardly any meat. I wasn't especially happy. I brought it to the attention of the waitress who sent it back and we asked for a side of pickles which took 20 minutes to get and that we had to ask another server for. I've been to other VI's and it's always been a great experience but this location is fail on an epic scale. Upon bringing out a new Reuben, still a lack of sauerkraut and it tasted like it was peeled away from the carpet. I complained once again and we were offered free pie. Nope, I demanded money off my bill as I wasn't going to pay for something which seemed as though it was picked out of the dumpster out back and reheated. Other sandwich was a breaded chicken sandwich which was plated wrong. No lettuce, no pickles (as ordered). Management said after complaining about the Reuben with no sauerkraut, that the portion size was correct and this is how they essentially do things here. Really? REALLY? He argued with me about it. Pass on this location at all costs. Horrible.

Slow service. Not many customers. Not attended to until new guy started his shift. ?? Took over an hour and one order wrong. No refills. Other customers that came in after served first. Couldn't believe it. Completely unprofessional. Never again. This was about 12:30 on a Monday.

Our party arrived around noon ... and had we had to wait any longer to receive service from our waitress, we would have been ordering for dinner rather than lunch. She told us she'd be back in a couple of minutes, which ended up being closer to 20 minutes. Not the best service. The food on the other hand was delicious. Not quite what it looked like in the menu, but still tasty. The syrup bottle was sticky from head to toe. Didn't make for a pleasant experience. Can they be wiped down before being delivered to our table? Our receipt was placed on the table in a spilled pile of gravy. Gross.

We made a stop for breakfast three nights ago and Michael was our server. His service was fantastic and truly made our shared omelette and pancakes much more enjoyable! Thanks Michael for having such a great attitude and great customer service! We won't be back to this location as we were just passing through, however I will definitely go to another Village Inn when I see one!

Our family LOVED this place. It just happened to be between our hotel and the interstate and I saw some good reviews on Yelp, so we hopped in for breakfast before heading on our way to Denver. I had the "Build Your Own Breakfast" (I think that is what it was called). For $7.95 you can choose one item each from four categories. I chose scrambled eggs, turkey sausage, fresh fruit, and a strawberry/banana crepe. It was a little hard to choose since there were so many items in each category. My son who is a French Toast connoisseur, ordered the Strawberry Banana Supreme French Toast. He said it was as amazing as it looked. The best part about the whole thing is that we were there on a Wednesday which just happened to be free pie day. I thought that meant that we got to pick ONE slice of pie with our order as a way of enticing us to purchase three more (there were four people in our party). But surprise, surprise, it was free pie slices all around! We packed them to go and had a great dessert later that evening. It was great food at a great value! Oh and food came to the table super quick and service was fantastic as well. If you are headed through Grand Junction, do yourself a favor. Skip Denny's and head to the Village Inn for breakfast.
